Congratulations Apteka

Central and Eastern European-inspired vegan restaurant, once pierogi pop-up, has earned a spot on the list of James Beard Finalists, Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic category. What began as a monthly Pierogi Night pop-up in Lawrenceville has evolved into a nationally recognized vegan restaurant. Named by The New York Times as one of the best restaurants in America in 2022, Pittsburgh’s East End APTEKA is a culinary delight enjoyed by vegans and non-vegans alike. While the characteristics of European dishes often center around a wide range of meat and diary products, Lasky and Skowronski have reimagined a menu where such items are not present nor are they missed. APTEKA serves fully vegan cuisine.

This is Kate Lasky and Tomasz Skowronski’s second consecutive year to make the James Beard Award Semi-Finalists List, and their first year on the list of finalists. James Beard Award winners will be announced on June 5 at a ceremony held at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
