The Five O'Clock: The Beehive
What’s all the buzz, you ask? Why, it’s National Honey Bee Day! Take a break from your busy schedule and celebrate mother nature’s most productive little workers by making this summer time refresher.
Soothing flavors of peach, Blume Honey Water, and lemon make for a fruit-forward tea sweet enough for a bee. Just mix the syrup, shake, and serve.
Ingredients
For the simple syrup:
1 peach, pitted but not peeled
2 handfuls of fresh lemon balm
1 lemon, zested
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
For the cocktail:
Blume Honey Water
1 lemon, juiced
A little more lemon balm.
2 oz vodka for the grown ups
Instructions
To make the syrup, put peach, lemon zest, sugar and water into a pain and bring to a vigorous boil. Stir to be sure sugar is well dissolved. Turn off the flame and add lemon balm. Stir to be sure the leaves are as submerged as possible. Cover and let steep until it reaches room temperature.
In a cocktail shaker, add lemon juice and fresh lemon balm. Muddle the leaves. Add 1/4 cup of the simple syrup, Blume Honey Water, and vodka if you’re going for the grown up version. Shake. Strain and pour over ice into a tall glass. Garnish with fresh lemon and a sprig of something nice. Sip slowly and take a break from your beehive of activity.
