Celebrating 60
LeMont opened its doors in June of 1960. Built on the site of the Grandview Theater, its combination of view, service and cuisine was a hit from the start.
The view is immense. Stand at the windows and scan left to right to take in the Ohio on its way westward, the hills of the North Side, the most sumptuous view imaginable of the Golden Triangle in the middle, and the silvery green Monongahela tracing its way upriver. It invigorates the soul even as it calms you down with its breadth.
The staff has the same effect. Everyone on the floor is a seasoned pro, and you know you’re in good hands from the first hello. They’ve seen it all, and there is not a single thing you could do to shake them off course. Same in the kitchen with Chef Robert Vargo, with 20 years of experience serving up luxurious LeMont menus and helming a huge portion of the restaurants lifetime total of six million meals, 55,000 private parties and 7,500 wedding receptions.
The June anniversary menu brings back some of the restaurant’s nostalgic favorites from decades past, including a 1980s dish, Chicken Christina. The a la carte menu hums alongside, with Chilean Sea Bass as a feature. As part of the anniversary celebration, Chef Vargo shares both recipes with TABLE readers. Open Wednesday-Sunday in June, and Tuesday-Sunday in July. Telephone for reservations: 412-431-3100
