Historic, Elegant and Unforgettable Allegheny County Venues

Sponsored Content

Milestone moments deserve timeless locations. Want a stunning setting for your wedding, engagement party, fundraiser, anniversary, or other celebration? Host your event at one of Allegheny County’s three historic venues. From an idyllic country estate to a chic urban oasis, we offer the perfect backdrop for your special day.

Hartwood Acres Park

Hartwood Acres Park is home to one of the largest and most elegant country estates in Southwestern Pennsylvania. The Allegheny County park includes a stately Tudor mansion, a stables complex, and a gate lodge, all designed by Alfred Hopkins for John and Mary Flinn Lawrence. The mansion’s sprawling grounds -- including the Terrace and Grand Pavilion, manicured Formal Garden, and expansive Main Lawn -- provide distinct outdoor event spaces that can accommodate up to 500 guests.

Hartwood is a perennial favorite venue among Allegheny County residents. Encompassing more than 600 acres in Hampton and Indiana townships, the park features free concerts on Sunday evenings from June through August. Other amenities include mansion tours, teas, an off-leash dog area, and cross-country skiing, walking, hiking, and bridle trails. Beginning in 2022, the sculpture garden at Hartwood will feature ADA-accessible walkways, new native landscape plantings, and reconfigured driveways and parking areas, all using principles of “green” design.

The Stables at Hartwood

The Stables at Hartwood is the latest addition to Allegheny County Venues. Designed in the late 1920s by Hopkins to resemble an English Cotswold Village, The Stables at Hartwood were renovated in 2020-2021. The covered courtyard and authentic stables provide a perfect blend of indoor and outdoor event spaces. Ivy-covered stone walls and the expansive green space provide a more bucolic setting than Hartwood mansion. Guests will be inspired by the charm of the equestrian facility that once boarded Mary Flinn Lawrence's beloved horses.

The Stables at Hartwood can accommodate up to 100 guests for a seated luncheon or dinner in the courtyard, and the front lawn is ideal for casual wedding ceremonies.

Like the mansion, The Stables at Hartwood is primarily an outdoor venue. You may reserve either venue for private events from May through October.

Allegheny County Courthouse

Finally, the Allegheny County Courthouse, located in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a popular wedding and elopement site. This National Historic Landmark is recognized as one of the finest examples of Romanesque Revival architecture and features Syrian arches, Byzantine capitals, late French Gothic dormer windows, and French Renaissance roofs. One of the building’s most striking attributes is the bell tower, which rises more than 229 feet above Grant Street.

Couples regularly exchange vows on the majestic Grand Staircase inside the courthouse, with many then hosting receptions in the outdoor courtyard. The courtyard, with its quaint city garden, is easily transformed into a perfect space for cocktail parties, dinners, and fundraisers. Capacity in the courtyard is 150 seated, 200 standing.

When you book an Allegheny County venue, you have the flexibility to choose your own vendors and décor. Let us help you bring your unique vision life. While your guests enjoy the unforgettable ambiance, you can relax knowing our staff will help ensure your event is even more perfect than you’d imagined.
