Farm Fresh
Few things are as magical as a summer tomato. They’re nothing like the mealy, bland tomatoes found during the rest of the year -- summer tomatoes, sporting vibrant, deep red, purple, and yellow hues, are juicy, sweet, and rich with flavor. Eat them on toast, with fresh cheeses, in summer salads, on pizza, or throw a bit of salt onto the edge and bite into one like an apple. You can't go wrong.
Pennsylvania is heading into peak season, which means soon, local markets will be teeming with all kinds of tomatoes. Stock your kitchen with plump, farm-fresh varieties before they’re gone for the year! To help, we’ve laid out some of the area farmers' markets.
And while you're at it, snag some of the area's other seasonal delights. We hear it's a great year for peaches!
