Wine Tasting for Australia

Wine tasting for Australian fire relief.jpg

Wildfires continue to devastate much of Australia in ways never before seen. Although media coverage has died down in recent weeks, the fires still burn and the problem is far from over. Relief efforts continue and Australians need our support.

Pittsburgh wine educator and sommelier Adam Knoerzer of ‘Burghundy LLC  will be hosting a wine class and fundraiser focused on Australian wines on Thursday, February 27 at The Art Room by the Pennsylvania Market in the Strip District (2010 Smallman St.). The session begins at 6:30PM sharp.

You will taste and learn about some notable examples of wines being produced in Australia today while you sample charcuterie and other snacks provided by the Market. A portion of the ticket price will be donated to the South Australian Bushfire Appeal that's organized by the local government of South Australia, one of the country's most important centers for wine production. Guests are also invited to donate more on-site -- and the highest donor will go home with a bottle of Australian wine!

We all know the wine with the kangaroo on the label, but there's so much more to the story of Australian wine. Sure, you'll find the bold, expressive Shiraz that put Australia on the map for many American wine lovers, but this session will encompass some of the other exciting wines being made Down Under today. Elegant whites and reds both delicate and decadent await in this session, so be sure to join!

Having visited Australia several times, including some wine regions, Adam offers a personal, on-the-ground take that will add a richness and depth to the conversation. Adam is also the founder of 'Burghundy LLC, a wine education and consulting business based in Pittsburgh focused on an inclusive approach to wine.
