The Boozy, Beautiful Bazerac
Our friends at Quantum Spirits shares their take on a Sazerac, which they call the Bazerac. It starts with their lovely Barrel Rested Gin, with simple syrup, bitters and finishes with a orange peel.
The most fascinating ingredient, however, is the hint of absinthe, an aromatic liqueur that was considered perilously delicious in 19th century Paris. Many an artist imbibed for inspiration, and many a poet mentioned it in verse. Let’s have a sip ourselves and see what happens!
Recipe
2oz Quantum Spirits Barrel Rested Gin
1/2oz demerara simple syrup
2 dashes Peychaud's bitters
orange peel
3 sprays absinthe (we dig Lawrenceville Distilling's take on the spirit)
Spray a martini glass or similar with absinthe.
Combine the Barrel Rested Gin, simple syrup and bitters in a cocktail shaker filled with ice, stir and strain into glass. Express and garnish with orange peel.
